The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was passed to prevent the disenfranchisement of racial groups in American elections.  Since 1965, states have passed voter ID laws requiring government-issued identification to vote.  Research and discuss how voter ID laws have impacted voter turnout and why.  In addition, explain the relationship between the Voting Rights Act and voter ID laws.
